पात्रलक्षण-परिक्षा (Pātra-Lakṣaṇa Parīkṣā) — Criteria for a Worthy Recipient
यद् ब्राह्मणमुखात् प्राप्तं प्रतिगृह्लन्ति वै वच: । भूतात्मानो महात्मानस्ते न यान्ति पराभवम्
yad brāhmaṇamukhāt prāptaṁ pratigṛhlanti vai vacaḥ | bhūtātmāno mahātmānas te na yānti parābhavam ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—സകല ജീവികളോടും ഏകാത്മഭാവം പുലർത്തുന്ന മഹാത്മാക്കൾ ബ്രാഹ്മണന്റെ മുഖത്തിൽ നിന്നുള്ള വചനത്തെ പ്രമാണമായി സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നു. അത്തരക്കാർ പരാജയത്തിലേക്കോ നാശത്തിലേക്കോ വീഴുകയില്ല; കാരണം അവർ അഹങ്കാരമോ ആവേശമോ അല്ല, ധർമ്മത്തിൽ അധിഷ്ഠിതമായ മാർഗ്ഗനിർദ്ദേശമാണ് തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നത്.
