Vītahavya’s Attainment of Brāhmaṇya (Vītahavya–Vipratva) | वीतहव्यस्य ब्राह्मण्यप्राप्तिः
मतज़ सम्प्रधार्यवं यदहं त्वामचूचुदम् । वृणीष्व कामम-्यं त्वं ब्राह्मुण्यं हि सुदुर्लभम्
Mataṅga, sampradhāryaivaṃ yad ahaṃ tvām acūcudam | vṛṇīṣva kāmam anyaṃ tvaṃ brāhmaṇyaṃ hi sudurlabham ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു— “ഹേ മതംഗാ! ഇങ്ങനെ ആലോചിച്ചിട്ടാണ് ഞാൻ നിന്നോട് പറഞ്ഞത്— ‘നിനക്ക് ഇഷ്ടമുള്ള മറ്റൊരു വരം തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുക; കാരണം യഥാർത്ഥ ബ്രാഹ്മണ്യം ലഭിക്കുക അത്യന്തം ദുർലഭമാണ്.’”
