Tīrtha-vaṃśa Upadeśa: Instruction on the Fruits of Sacred Waters

अवेददब्रतचारित्रास्त्रिभिवरर्णर्युधिष्ठिर । मन्त्रवत्परिविष्यन्ते त्स्याधमों गवानृतम्‌,युधिष्ठिर! जो ब्राह्मण, क्षत्रिय और वैश्य वेदव्रतका पालन न करनेवाले ब्राह्मणोंको श्राद्धमें मन्‍्त्रोच्चारणपूर्वक अन्न परोसते हैं, उन्हें भी गायकी झूठी शपथ खानेका पाप लगता है

Transliteration

avedad-vrata-cāritrās tribhir varṇair yudhiṣṭhira | mantravat pariviṣyante teṣām adho gāvānṛtam ||

Translation

യുധിഷ്ഠിരാ! ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ, ക്ഷത്രിയൻ, വൈശ്യൻ—ഈ മൂന്ന് വർണ്ണക്കാരും—വേദവ്രതവും ശീലശുദ്ധിയും പാലിക്കാത്ത ബ്രാഹ്മണർക്കു ശ്രാദ്ധത്തിൽ മന്ത്രപൂർവ്വം അന്നം വിളമ്പുകയാണെങ്കിൽ, അവർക്കും ഗോമാതാവിനെ സാക്ഷിയാക്കി കള്ളസത്യം ചെയ്തതിനു തുല്യമായ പാപം തന്നെ ബാധിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് പറയുന്നു।
