मणिमन्थे<थ शैले वै पुरा सम्पूजितो मया । वर्षायुतसहस्राणां सहस्नं शतमेव च,“इस तरह महादेवजीने मुझे और भी सहस्रों वर दिये। पूर्वकालमें अन्य अवतारोंके समय मणिमन्थ पर्वतपर मैंने लाखों-करोड़ों वर्षोतक भगवान् शंकरकी आराधना की थी

വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—പൂർവകാലത്ത് മണിമന്തം എന്ന പർവതത്തിൽ ഞാൻ മഹാദേവനെ പൂർണ്ണ ഭക്തിയോടും ആദരവോടും കൂടി ആരാധിച്ചു. ആയിരങ്ങളായ ആയിരം വർഷങ്ങളും, അതുപോലെ ലക്ഷവർഷം വരെയും, ഞാൻ ആ ഉപാസനയിൽ അചഞ്ചലനായി നിലകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
