उषित्वा शर्वरी: श्रीमान् पञ्चाशन्नगरोत्तमे । समयं कौरवाग्रयस्य सस्मार पुरुषर्षभ:,पचास राततक उस उत्तम नगरमें निवास करके श्रीमान् पुरुषप्रवर युधिष्ठिरको कुरुकुल-शिरोमणि भीष्मजीके बताये हुए समयका स्मरण हो आया
uṣitvā śarvarīḥ śrīmān pañcāśan nagarottame | samayaṃ kauravāgryasya sasmāra puruṣarṣabhaḥ ||
ആ ഉത്തമ നഗരത്തിൽ അമ്പതു രാത്രികൾ പാർത്തു കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ, ശ്രീമാനായ പുരുഷശ്രേഷ്ഠൻ യുധിഷ്ഠിരൻ കൗരവാഗ്ര്യനായ ഭീഷ്മൻ നിർദ്ദേശിച്ചിരുന്ന നിശ്ചിത സമയത്തെ ഓർത്തെടുത്തു.
