Educational Q&A

Legitimate rule is not merely possession of power but the ethical ordering of the state: after consecration, the king must appoint competent officials (prakṛtis) and seek the blessings and guidance of learned, virtuous brāhmaṇas—signaling governance anchored in dharma, counsel, and social responsibility.

Following his royal consecration, Yudhiṣṭhira formally assumes sovereignty, organizes the administration by placing ministers and other state-functionaries in their proper posts, and then receives auspicious blessings from Veda-versed brāhmaṇas.
