न जातु त्वमिति ब्रूयादापन्नो5पि महत्तरम् | त्वंकारो वा वधो वेति विद्वत्सु न विशिष्यते
na jātu tvam iti brūyād āpanno 'pi mahattaram | tvaṃkāro vā vadho veti vidvatsu na viśiṣyate, yudhiṣṭhira |
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—യുധിഷ്ഠിരാ! എത്ര വലിയ ദുരന്തം വന്നാലും ശ്രേഷ്ഠനായ ഒരാളെ ‘നീ’ എന്നു പരിചയക്കുറവോടെ വിളിക്കരുത്. ജ്ഞാനികളുടെ കണക്കിൽ അങ്ങനെ ‘ത്വം’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അപമാനിക്കുന്നതും വധം വരുത്തുന്നതും തമ്മിൽ വലിയ വ്യത്യാസമില്ല।
