Educational Q&A

Bhishma teaches that sustaining dharma and social stability requires honoring and serving Brahmins—those entrusted with learning, ritual, and moral instruction—because the welfare of the world is portrayed as dependent on their guidance and sanctifying functions.

In Anushasana Parva, Bhishma continues his extended instruction on dharma and right conduct. Here he urges the listener (Yudhishthira in the broader context) to show special reverence to Brahmins and to recognize their foundational role in maintaining the order of the worlds.
