अवृत्ता ये तु भिन्दन्ति श्रुतित्यागपरायणा: । धर्मविद्वेषिणो मन्दा इत्युक्तस्तेषु संशय:
avṛttā ye tu bhindanti śruti-tyāga-parāyaṇāḥ | dharma-vidveṣiṇo mandā ity uktaḥ teṣu saṁśayaḥ ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു— ആചാരഹീനർ, സ്ഥാപിതമായ മര്യാദകൾ തകർക്കുന്നവർ, ശ്രുതി (വേദവാക്യം) ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുവാൻ തന്നെ ആസക്തർ, ധർമ്മദ്വേഷികൾ, മന്ദബുദ്ധികൾ— ഇത്തരക്കാരെക്കുറിച്ച് സംശയമേ പ്രസ്താവിക്കപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ളൂ. അവർ സജ്ജന്മാർ സ്ഥാപിച്ച ധർമ്മവും ആചാരവും ഉള്ള അതിരുകൾ ലംഘിക്കുന്നു; അതിനാൽ അവരെ വിശ്വസിക്കരുത്.
