Shloka 17

इन्द्र रवाच अस्माभिरननिन्दितावेतौ भवेतां सोमपौ कथम्‌ | देवैर्न सम्मितावेतौ तस्मान्मैवं वदस्व न:,इन्द्र बोले--विप्रवर! अश्विनीकुमार हमलोगोंके द्वारा निन्दित हैं। फिर ये सोमपानके अधिकारी कैसे हो सकते हैं। ये दोनों देवताओंके समान प्रतिष्ठित नहीं हैं; अतः उनके लिये इस तरहकी बात न कीजिये

indra uvāca—asmābhir ananinditāv etau bhavetāṃ somapau katham | devair na sammitāv etau tasmān maivaṃ vadasva naḥ ||

ഇന്ദ്രൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“ഹേ നിർദോഷ ബ്രാഹ്മണാ! ഈ രണ്ടുപേരെയും ഞങ്ങൾ നിന്ദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പിന്നെ ഇവർ എങ്ങനെ സോമപാനത്തിന് അർഹരാകും? ഇവർ ദേവന്മാരോടു തുല്യസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ അംഗീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടവരല്ല; അതിനാൽ അവരുടെ വേണ്ടി ഞങ്ങളോട് ഇങ്ങനെ പറയരുത്.”
