Ś
Śrī Maheśvara (speaker)
Ś
Śubhānanā (addressee, unnamed in this verse)

Educational Q&A

A wrongly directed mind corrupts one’s actions; those actions in turn create bondage for the mind. Ethical life begins with disciplining intention and thought, not merely outward behavior.

Śrī Maheśvara addresses a person called “Śubhānanā,” introducing an instruction: he explains how misguided mental impulses lead to tainted deeds and consequent bondage, and urges the listener to hear his guidance.
