कथं केभ्यश्न धर्म्य च दानं दातव्यमिष्यते । कै: कारणै: कतिविध॑ श्रोतुमिच्छामि तत्त्वतः
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | kathaṁ kebhyaś ca dharmyaṁ ca dānaṁ dātavyam iṣyate | kaiḥ kāraṇaiḥ kati-vidhaṁ śrotum icchāmi tattvataḥ ||
യുധിഷ്ഠിരൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ധർമ്മാനുസാരം ദാനം എങ്ങനെ, ആരാർക്ക് നൽകുന്നതാണ് യുക്തമെന്ന് കരുതപ്പെടുന്നത്? ഏതു കാരണങ്ങളാൽ നൽകണം? ദാനം എത്രവിധമായി വിഭാഗീകരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു? ഇതെല്ലാം ഞാൻ യഥാർത്ഥമായി കേൾക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു.
