Adhyāya 142: Cyavana, the Devas’ Arrogance, and Vāyu’s Counsel on Protecting Brāhmaṇas
महान् यशस्वी राजर्षि सहस्नचित्य ब्राह्मणके लिये अपने प्यारे प्राणोंकी बलि देकर श्रेष्ठ लोकोंमें गये हैं ।।
bhīṣma uvāca | sarvakāmaiḥ samāpūrṇaṃ dattvā veśma hiraṇmayam | maudgalyāya gataḥ svargaṃ śatadyumno mahīpatiḥ ||
ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു—മഹീപതി ശതദ്യുമ്നൻ ബ്രാഹ്മണനായ മൗദ്ഗല്യന് എല്ലാ ആഗ്രഹങ്ങളും നിറവേറ്റുന്ന വിധം സജ്ജീകരിച്ച സ്വർണമയമായ ഭവനം ദാനം നൽകി സ്വർഗം പ്രാപിച്ചു. ഈ ഭാഗം പഠിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്—യോഗ്യനായ സ്വീകര്താവിന് നിഷ്കാമമായി സമ്പൂർണ്ണ ദാനം നൽകുന്നത് രാജധർമ്മമാണെന്നും അതിലൂടെ ശ്രേഷ്ഠ ലോകപ്രാപ്തിയുണ്ടാകുന്നതുമാണ്.
