Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony

विभूषितं पुण्यपवित्रतोयया सदा च जुष्टं नृप जह्लुकन्यया । विभूषितं धर्मभृतां वरिष्ठै- महात्मभिव॑द्लिसमानकल्पै:

Transliteration

vibhūṣitaṃ puṇyapavitratoyayā sadā ca juṣṭaṃ nṛpa jahlukanyayā | vibhūṣitaṃ dharmabhṛtāṃ variṣṭhair mahātmabhir adlisamānakalpaiḥ ||

Translation

വാസുദേവൻ പറഞ്ഞു—നരേശ്വരാ! ആ സ്ഥലം പുണ്യവും പവിത്രവും ആയ ജലങ്ങളാൽ അലങ്കരിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു; ജഹ്നുവിന്റെ പുത്രിയായ ജാഹ്നവീ നദി, സ്നേഹത്തോടെ അതിനെ ആസ്വദിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ, നിത്യവും അവിടെ സഞ്ചരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. ധർമ്മധാരികളിൽ ശ്രേഷ്ഠരായ, അഗ്നിസമാന തേജസ്സുള്ള അനേകം മഹാത്മാക്കളാൽ ആ ആശ്രമപ്രദേശം കൂടുതൽ ശോഭിച്ചു. ഇങ്ങനെ പുണ്യസലിലയായ ജാഹ്നവീ ആ പാവന പ്രദേശത്തിന്റെ സൗന്ദര്യം നിരന്തരം വർധിപ്പിച്ചു।
