Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ

Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony

यदवाप्तं च मे पूर्व साम्बहेतो: सुदुष्करम्‌ । यथावद्‌ भगवान्‌ दृष्टो मया पूर्व समाधिना,पूर्वकालमें साम्बकी उत्पत्तिके लिये अत्यन्त दुष्कर तप करके मैंने जिस दुर्लभ नामसमूहका ज्ञान प्राप्त किया था और समाथिके द्वारा भगवान्‌ शंकरका जिस प्रकार यथावत्‌रूपसे साक्षात्कार किया था, वह सब प्रसंग सुना रहा हूँ

yad avāptaṃ ca me pūrva sāmbhetoḥ suduṣkaram | yathāvad bhagavān dṛṣṭo mayā pūrva-samādhinā ||

വാസുദേവൻ പറഞ്ഞു—സാംബന്റെ നിമിത്തം ഞാൻ പൂർവകാലത്ത് അത്യന്തം ദുഷ്കരമായ തപസ്സിലൂടെ നേടിയ ആ ദുർലഭ നാമസമൂഹവും, പൂർവ സമാധിയാൽ ഞാൻ ഭഗവാൻ ശങ്കരനെ യഥാവിധി ദർശിച്ച രീതിയും—ആ മുഴുവൻ പ്രസംഗം ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ വിവരിക്കുന്നു.
