Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
य: पूर्वमसृजद् देवं ब्रह्माणं लोकभावनम् । अण्डमाकाशमापूर्य वरं तस्माद् वृणीमहे
yaḥ pūrvam asṛjad devaṁ brahmāṇaṁ lokabhāvanam | aṇḍam ākāśam āpūrya varaṁ tasmād vṛṇīmahe ||
ആദിയിൽ ലോകങ്ങളെ പോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ദേവൻ ബ്രഹ്മാവിനെ സൃഷ്ടിക്കുകയും ആകാശത്തെ മഹാണ്ഡംകൊണ്ട് നിറയ്ക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത ആ മഹാദേവനിൽ നിന്നുതന്നെ ഞങ്ങൾ വരം അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു।
