Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
यावच्छशाड्कधवलामलबद्धमौलि- न प्रीयते पशुपतिर्भगवान् ममेश: । तावज्जरामरणजन्मशताभिषघातै- दुःखानि देहविहितानि समुद्गह्यामि
yāvac chaśāṅkadhavalāmalabaddhamauli na prīyate paśupatir bhagavān mameśaḥ | tāvaj jarāmaraṇajanmaśatābhighātaiḥ duḥkhāni dehavihitāni samudgṛhyāmi ||
ചന്ദ്രനെപ്പോലെ ധവളവും നിർമലവും ആയ അർദ്ധചന്ദ്രമാല ശിരസ്സിൽ ധരിച്ച എന്റെ സ്വാമിയായ ഭഗവാൻ പശുപതി പ്രസന്നനാകുന്നതുവരെ, ജനനം–ജര–മരണം എന്ന നൂറുകണക്കിന് പ്രഹരങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുയരുന്ന ദേഹദുഃഖങ്ങളുടെ ഭാരം ഞാൻ സഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും.
