भूतिकामेन मर्त्येन सत्यमेतद् ब्रवीमि ते । इस प्रकार उत्तम कुलमें उत्पन्न हुए ब्राह्मणोंने पूर्वकालमें यह प्रत्यक्ष देखा और अनुभव किया है; अत: अपना कल्याण चाहनेवाले मनुष्योंको शास्त्रमें जिन्हें त्याज्य बतलाया है
bhūtikāmena martyena satyam etad bravīmi te |
ശക്രൻ പറഞ്ഞു—സമൃദ്ധിയും ക്ഷേമവും ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന മർത്ത്യനോട് ഞാൻ ഇതു സത്യമായി പറയുന്നു. പൂർവ്വകാലത്ത് ഉത്തമകുലത്തിൽ ജനിച്ച ബ്രാഹ്മണർ ഇതിനെ പ്രത്യക്ഷമായി കണ്ടും അനുഭവംകൊണ്ട് സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചുമുണ്ട്; അതിനാൽ സ്വന്തം നന്മ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നവൻ ശാസ്ത്രം ത്യാജ്യമെന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ കർമ്മങ്ങളെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കുകയും, വിധിക്കപ്പെട്ട കർത്തവ്യകർമ്മങ്ങളെ നിത്യമായി അനുഷ്ഠിക്കുകയും വേണം. ഇതാണ് ഞാൻ നിനക്കു പറയുന്ന സത്യോപദേശം.
