त्रयाणामपि पिण्डानां श्रुत्वा भगवतो गतिम्‌

trayāṇām api piṇḍānāṃ śrutvā bhagavato gatim | śrāddhasya rahasyaṃ jñātaṃ; devadūta! tvayā yat śrāddhavidher nirṇayaḥ pṛṣṭaḥ, tadanusāreṇa trayāṇām api piṇḍānāṃ gatiḥ kathyate | sāvadhānaḥ śṛṇu me ||

ഭഗവാൻ വിഷ്ണുവിൽ നിന്ന് മൂന്നു പിണ്ഡങ്ങളുടെ ഗതി കേട്ടതോടെ അവൻ ശ്രാദ്ധത്തിന്റെ രഹസ്യം അറിഞ്ഞു. ഹേ ദേവദൂതാ! നീ ചോദിച്ച ശ്രാദ്ധവിധിയുടെ നിർണ്ണയപ്രകാരം ഇനി മൂന്നു പിണ്ഡങ്ങളുടെ ഫലം വിശദീകരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ശ്രദ്ധയോടെ എന്റെ വാക്ക് കേൾക്കുക.
