क्लिश्यमानान्‌ विमार्गेषु कामक्रोधावृतात्मन: । मन्ये त्वं ध्यायसि जनांस्तेनासि हरिण: कृश:

kliśyamānān vimārgeṣu kāmakrodhāvṛtātmanaḥ | manye tvaṃ dhyāyasi janāṃs tenāsi hariṇaḥ kṛśaḥ ||

ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ പറഞ്ഞു—“കാമവും ക്രോധവും കൊണ്ട് അന്തഃകരണം മൂടപ്പെട്ടവരും, തെറ്റുവഴികളിൽ നടന്ന് ക്ലേശം അനുഭവിക്കുന്നവരുമായ ജനങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചാണ് നീ നിരന്തരം ധ്യാനിക്കുന്നത് എന്ന് ഞാൻ കരുതുന്നു. അതിനാലാണ് നീ മാൻപോലെ ക്ഷീണിച്ചും വെളുത്തും ആയത്.”
