Dāna-Śreṣṭhatā: On the Superiority of Giving
Maitreya–Vyāsa Exemplum
सर्वज्ञ व्यासजी सम्पूर्ण प्राणियोंकी गतिके ज्ञाता तथा सभी देहधारियोंकी भाषाको समझनेवाले हैं। उन्होंने उस कीड़ेको देखकर उससे इस प्रकारकी बातचीत की ।। व्यास उवाच कीट संत्रस्तरूपो5सि त्वरितश्नैव लक्ष्यसे । क्व धावसि तदाचक्ष्व कुतस्ते भयमागतम्,व्यासजीने पूछा--कीट! आज तुम बहुत डरे हुए और उतावले दिखायी दे रहे हो, बताओ तो सही--कहाँ भागे जा रहे हो? कहाँसे तुम्हें भय प्राप्त हुआ है?
Vyāsa uvāca: kīṭa saṁtrastarūpo 'si tvaritaś caiva lakṣyase | kva dhāvasi tad ācakṣva kutas te bhayam āgatam ||
വ്യാസൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ കീടമേ! നീ അത്യന്തം ഭീതനായി, വലിയ തിടുക്കത്തിൽ ഓടുന്നതായി കാണുന്നു. എവിടേക്കാണ് നീ ഓടുന്നത്? ഈ ഭയം നിനക്കു എവിടെ നിന്നാണ് വന്നത്? പറയുക.
