Dāna-Śreṣṭhatā: On the Superiority of Giving
Maitreya–Vyāsa Exemplum
तपोधन! अब मैं पुनः किसी शुभकर्मके द्वारा भविष्यमें सुख पानेकी आशा रखता हूँ। वह कल्याणकारी कर्म कया है, इसे मैं आपके मुखसे सुनना चाहता हूँ ।।
tapodhana! ahaṁ punaḥ kasyacit śubhakarmaṇā bhaviṣyati sukhaṁ prāptum āśāṁ dhārayāmi. tat kalyāṇakaraṁ karma kim? etat tava mukhāt śrotum icchāmi.
ഹേ തപോധന! ഇനി ഞാൻ വീണ്ടും ഏതെങ്കിലും ശുഭകർമ്മം മുഖേന ഭാവിയിൽ സുഖം പ്രാപിക്കുമെന്ന പ്രത്യാശ വഹിക്കുന്നു. ആ കല്യാണകരമായ കര്മം ഏതാണ്—അത് നിങ്ങളുടെ മുഖത്തിൽ നിന്ന് കേൾക്കാൻ ഞാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു. ഇതി ശ്രീമഹാഭാരതേ അനുശാസനപർവ്വണി ദാനധർമ്മപർവ്വണി കീടോപാഖ്യാനേ സപ്തദശാധികശതതമോഽധ്യായഃ.
