भीष्म उवाच मांसस्याभक्षणाद्‌ राजन्‌ यो धर्म: कुरुनन्दन । तन्मे शूणु यथातत्त्वं यथास्य विधिरुत्तम:

bhīṣma uvāca māṁsasyābhakṣaṇād rājan yo dharmaḥ kurunandana | tan me śṛṇu yathātattvaṁ yathāsya vidhir uttamaḥ ||

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു— രാജാവേ, കുരുനന്ദനാ! മാംസം ഭക്ഷിക്കാതിരിക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ നിലനിൽക്കുന്ന ധർമ്മത്തെ, അതിന്റെ തത്ത്വത്തെയും, അതിനെ ആചരിക്കേണ്ട ഉത്തമവിധിയെയും എന്റെ വായിൽ നിന്ന് യഥാർത്ഥമായി കേൾക്കുക.
