This verse is a colophon marking the completion of a chapter within the Dāna-dharma discourse. Its instructional point is contextual: the surrounding teaching is to be understood as part of Bhīṣma’s authoritative guidance on dharma, with special emphasis on the ethical discipline of giving (dāna) as a component of righteous life.
The text signals closure: the Mahābhārata’s Anuśāsana Parva, in the subsection devoted to dāna-dharma, finishes the 110th chapter. It functions as an editorial/narrative marker rather than a new event, indicating that Bhīṣma’s instruction in this chapter has concluded.
