भीष्म उवाच सर्वाणि खलु तीर्थानि गुणवन्ति मनीषिण: । यत्तु तीर्थ च शौचं च तन्मे शूणु समाहित:,भीष्मजीने कहा--युधिष्ठिर! इस पृथ्वीपर जितने तीर्थ हैं, वे सब मनीषी पुरुषोंके लिए गुणकारी होते हैं; किंतु उन सबमें जो परम पवित्र और प्रधान तीर्थ हैं, उसका वर्णन करता हूँ, एकाग्रचित्त होकर सुनो

bhīṣma uvāca sarvāṇi khalu tīrthāni guṇavanti manīṣiṇaḥ | yat tu tīrthaṃ ca śaucaṃ ca tan me śṛṇu samāhitaḥ ||

ഭീഷ്മൻ പറഞ്ഞു— യുധിഷ്ഠിരാ! ഈ ഭൂമിയിലെ എല്ലാ തീർത്ഥങ്ങളും വിവേകികൾക്ക് ഗുണകരമാണ്. എന്നാൽ അവയിൽ യഥാർത്ഥത്തിൽ ശ്രേഷ്ഠമായ തീർത്ഥവും പരമ ശുദ്ധിയും ഏതാണ് എന്ന് ഞാൻ പറയുന്നു; ഏകാഗ്രചിത്തനായി കേൾക്കുക.
