ययातेर्वानप्रस्थतपःस्वर्गारोहणम् | Yayāti’s Vānaprastha Austerities and Ascent to Heaven
लब्ध्वा शुक्रान्महद् वित्तं देवयानीं तदोत्तमाम् | द्विसहस्रेण कन्यानां तथा शर्मिष्ठया सह
labdhvā śukrān mahad vittaṃ devayānīṃ tadottamām | dvisahasreṇa kanyānāṃ tathā śarmiṣṭhayā saha ||
വൈശമ്പായനൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ശുക്രനിൽ നിന്ന് മഹാസമ്പത്ത്, ഉത്തമയായ ദേവയാനി, ശർമിഷ്ഠയോടൊപ്പം രണ്ടായിരം കന്യകമാരെയും ലഭിച്ച യയാതി, ദൈത്യന്മാരാലും ശുക്രനാലും ആദരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു; ആ മഹാത്മാവിന്റെ അനുമതി വാങ്ങി ആനന്ദത്തോടെ തന്റെ തലസ്ഥാനത്തേക്കു പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
