Vasiṣṭhasya śokaḥ, Vipāśā–Śatadrū-nāmākaraṇam, Kalmāṣapādasya bhaya-prasaṅgaḥ (Ādi Parva 167)
स च पुत्रो महावीर्यो महातेजा महाबल: । इष्यते यद्विधो राजन् भविता ते तथाविध:,और कहा--'राजन्! इस यज्ञसे तुम जैसा पुत्र चाहते हो, वैसा ही तुम्हें होगा। तुम्हारा वह पुत्र महान् पराक्रमी, महातेजस्वी और महाबली होगा”
sa ca putro mahāvīryo mahātejā mahābalaḥ | iṣyate yadvidho rājan bhavitā te tathāvidhaḥ ||
അവൻ പിന്നെയും പറഞ്ഞു—“രാജാവേ! ഈ യാഗത്തിൽ നിന്നു നീ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന തരത്തിലുള്ള പുത്രൻ തന്നെയാകും നിനക്കു ലഭിക്കുക. അവൻ മഹാവീര്യനും മഹാതേജസ്സും മഹാബലവും ഉള്ളവനായിരിക്കും.”
