Lord Vishnu (in dialogue with Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Even when rebirth occurs by divine will, the Lord’s grace can establish nisprihatva (desirelessness) across the three worlds.
Vedantic Theme: Ishvara-sankalpa governing birth; vairagya as a mark of inner freedom; living in the world without thirst (trishna).
Application: Practice offering outcomes to Bhagavan (ishvara-pranidhana), cultivate vairagya through reflection on impermanence, and seek grace through bhakti.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Type: cosmic realms
Related Themes: Garuda Purana: repeated emphasis on Bhagavan’s anugraha as liberating force; Garuda Purana: teachings on vairagya and freedom from trishna as spiritual maturity
This verse states that freedom from craving across the three worlds arises from Bhagavan’s grace, indicating that inner liberation is not merely self-effort but also divine favor.
It frames rebirth as occurring by the will of the Supreme, with birth described as arising again “from Brahmā,” aligning creation and embodiment with divine intention.
Cultivate niḥspṛhatā—reduced craving and attachment—through devotion, ethical living, and remembrance of the Divine, treating worldly gains as secondary to inner steadiness.
