This verse states that ekoddiṣṭa śrāddha, done properly, is specifically aimed at helping the departed individual in the preta condition and supporting their upliftment.
It implies an intermediate preta phase where the departed benefits from prescribed offerings—especially water and food—performed through samuddiṣṭa and ekoddiṣṭa śrāddha as part of the post-death transition.
Perform post-death rites with care and correct procedure—offering water and food in śrāddha with a focused intention for the departed—while maintaining sincerity, purity, and adherence to family or śāstric guidelines.
