Related Themes: Adjacent Garuda Purana śrāddha verses on tyājaka/lepaka and pitṛ ordering (2.35.7, 2.35.9–10)
This verse stresses ritual propriety: those considered unsuitable should be kept at the end, while qualified participants are placed first, preserving the purity and intended merit (puṇya) of the śrāddha.
In the Preta Kanda, correct performance of śrāddha supports the departed. This verse addresses practical dharma—how to arrange the dining/serving line—so the rite is done without procedural fault.
When conducting memorial rites or charitable feeding in a ritual context, follow traditional guidance on eligibility and orderly arrangement; consult a competent priest to avoid avoidable mistakes and maintain sanctity.
