Lord Vishnu
Concept: Praṇava (Oṃ) as the sacred beginning leading to sāyujya; pūjā grants entry to the Lord’s loka and swift heavenly attainment.
Vedantic Theme: Praṇava as brahma-vācaka and upāsanā-bīja; worship (upāsanā) as a means to loka-prāpti and, in higher sense, union (sāyujya).
Application: Begin japa/recitation with Oṃ (where appropriate by tradition), maintain regular worship, and cultivate single-pointed devotion; integrate with ethical living and remembrance at life’s end.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Type: celestial realm(s)
Related Themes: Garuda Purana’s broader teaching on Viṣṇu-upāsanā, nāma-japa, and the gradation of gatis (svarga, viṣṇu-loka, mokṣa); Adjacent mantra verse (2.32.101) linking japa to bhakti and liberation
This verse states that practices initiated with Oṁ lead to sāyujya (spiritual union/liberation) without doubt, highlighting Oṁ as a decisive spiritual gateway.
It links right spiritual orientation—Oṁ-centered practice and worship—to higher destinations: first entry into Vishnu’s realm (mat-loka) and swift ascent to heavenly states, implying a post-death trajectory shaped by devotion and sacred sound.
Begin prayers, japa, and ritual acts with Oṁ and sustain regular worship; the takeaway is disciplined devotion and mantra-alignment as a direct means to elevate one’s destiny and inner liberation.
