Related Themes: Garuda Purana: pitṛ-doṣa/pitṛ-pīḍā remedies and emphasis on śrāddha (thematic; immediate link to 2.21.22–24)
This verse states that when Pitṛ-related affliction arises, it is not cured by unrelated rituals; dedicated reverence and service to the Pitṛs is presented as the primary remedy.
In the Preta Kanda context, proper ancestral observances (such as śrāddha and related duties) are emphasized as essential supports for the departed and for preventing ongoing distress linked to the ancestral line.
Maintain sincere ancestral respect—perform śrāddha/annual remembrance according to one’s tradition, live responsibly to uphold family dharma, and avoid substituting showy rituals for the specific duty of honoring the Pitṛs.
