Haristuti-saṅgraha: Devatā–Ṛṣi Praṇāma, Nāma-māhātmya, and Vairāgya from Deha-āsakti
traiguṇyaśūnyamakhileṣu ca saṃvibhaktaṃ tatra praviśya bhagavanna hi paśyatīva / ato marārestava sadguṇāṃśca stotuṃ na śakromi marīcetulyaḥ
Garuda (Vinata-putra), addressing Lord Vishnu
Concept: The Lord is triguṇa-śūnya (beyond sattva-rajas-tamas) yet appears distributed in all; entering the mystery of His all-pervasion, one cannot ‘see’ Him as an object; hence speech/praise falls short.
Vedantic Theme: Nirguṇa with saguṇa-upādhi appearance; aparokṣa/anubhava not reducible to sensory ‘seeing’; limits of language and mind in grasping Brahman.
Application: Hold paradox without forcing simplistic conclusions; practice neti-neti style discernment alongside devotion; let humility guard against dogmatism.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.7.52 (avikāri, ānanda-sāra); Garuda Purana 3.7.55 (ananta-rūpa beyond grasp)
This verse highlights Vishnu as traiguṇyaśūnya—transcending sattva, rajas, and tamas—showing the Supreme as not limited by material nature even while sustaining it.
By emphasizing that the Lord is subtle, all-pervading, and difficult to grasp, the verse points the soul toward humility and devotion rather than mere intellectual certainty—supporting inner surrender as a means of spiritual progress.
Cultivate humility in worship and study: recognize the limits of ego and intellect, and practice steady devotion and ethical living while remembering the Divine presence in all beings.
