Garuda (Vinata-putra), addressing Lord Vishnu (Krishna)

Concept: Nirāpekṣa-anugraha: the Lord, being pūrṇa (complete), teaches purely out of compassion; the disciple seeks uplift through grace.

Vedantic Theme: Pūrṇatva of Bhagavān and causeless mercy (ahaitukī kṛpā); surrender as a means to receive knowledge and uplift.

Application: Approach learning with humility and sincerity; cultivate gratitude and service-mindedness, recognizing teaching as an act of grace rather than transaction.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: karuna

FAQs

This verse highlights that sacred knowledge should be shared with dayā (compassion) so it uplifts both the listener (disciple) and the devotee who seeks guidance.

By emphasizing instruction that 'uplifts,' it points to liberating knowledge (dharma and right understanding) as a support for crossing fear and bondage—central themes in the Garuda Purana’s guidance on liberation.

Seek authentic teachings with humility, share knowledge kindly, and remember that the Divine is pūrṇakāma—devotion is offered for purification, not to fulfill God’s needs.
