Lord Vishnu (narrating to Garuda/Vinata-putra)

Concept: Limb-born creation (aṅga-sṛṣṭi) and personification of faculties/identities; Śacī as śakti/consort principle accompanying Indra’s office.

Vedantic Theme: Virāṭ conception and adhiṣṭhāna: cosmic functions emerge from a higher organizing principle; śakti inseparable from śaktimān in Purāṇic theology.

Application: Recognize roles and capacities as entrusted functions; cultivate partnership/śakti—power tempered by counsel and virtue.

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

FAQs

This verse shows how the Purana maps cosmic order through origins (emanations from Brahmā), grounding later teachings in a structured lineage of beings.

Indirectly: by establishing the cosmic hierarchy (creator and devas), it frames the moral-ritual universe in which karma, dharma, and post-death destinies operate.

Use it as a reminder that Purāṇic teachings link ethics and ritual to a larger cosmic order—encouraging disciplined living (dharma) with reverence for sacred tradition.
