This verse emphasizes that the offering is not only the food but also the ritual purity and intention: the vessel is sanctified by identifying it with Pṛthivī, making it a proper receptacle for sacred giving.
It gives a practical rule for śrāddha-style offerings: use vessels available within one’s capacity, with special preference for silver, then place the food and consecrate the vessel with the stated mantra before offering.
Perform offerings and charity within your means, prioritize cleanliness and reverence, and use a simple consecration/intention-setting (saṅkalpa) so the act becomes disciplined, dhārmic giving rather than mere formality.
