नाम त्रिनवतितमो ऽध्यायः याज्ञवल्क्य उवाच / गर्भाष्टमे ऽष्टमे वाब्दे ब्राह्मणस्योपनायनम् / रज्ञामेकादशे सैके विशामेके यथाकुलम्

യാജ്ഞവൽക്ക്യൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഇത് തൊണ്ണൂറ്റിനാലാം അധ്യായം. ബ്രാഹ്മണന്റെ ഉപനയനം ഗർഭഗണനയിൽ നിന്ന് എട്ടാം (അഥവാ പ്രായത്തിന്റെ എട്ടാം) വർഷത്തിൽ; ക്ഷത്രിയന്റെ പതിനൊന്നാം; വൈശ്യന്റെ കുലാചാരപ്രകാരം യോജ്യവർഷത്തിൽ നടത്തണം.
