Concept: Mātrā-jñāna (knowledge of proper measure): strength of intervention must be proportionate.
Vedantic Theme: Moderation (mātrā) and appropriateness (yogyatā) as ethical intelligence in action.
Application: Apply the same basti procedure to nirūha; use graded doses—half, three, and five palas—corresponding to mild, medium, and strong administration, respectively.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.172: basti-vidhi immediately preceding; nirūha continuation; dosage gradation (lghu/madhya/uttama)
Nirūha refers to a decoction-based enema therapy, and this verse states it follows the same general procedural rule previously described.
It assigns doses in palas—half-pala (mild), three-pala (medium), and five-pala (strong), given in that order.
It teaches graded dosing—starting from mild and increasing as appropriate; in contemporary settings, dosing and enemas must be individualized and supervised by qualified professionals.
