Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Dosha: Vata
Concept: Proper nourishment and restorative herbs protect bodily functions, enabling stable life and duties.
Vedantic Theme: Moderation and right means (yukta) in sustaining the body; non-indulgent care of senses and organs.
Application: Use aśvagandhā (specified as pītā) with milk and ghee for genital/urogenital disorders; consider maṇḍūkaparṇī juice and vidārī as strengthening, nectar-like tonics—under qualified supervision.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.172 (tonics and disease-removal formulations in surrounding verses)
This verse frames certain herbs taken with nourishing carriers (milk and ghee) as restorative and disease-destroying, presenting longevity/health support as part of dharmic living.
It does not directly describe the soul’s post-death journey; instead, it focuses on bodily restoration, implying that maintaining health supports one’s capacity to follow dharma and prescribed rites.
Use the verse as a traditional reference for rasayana concepts (herb + anupāna like milk/ghee), while seeking guidance from qualified Ayurvedic practitioners for safe, individualized use.
