Lord Vishnu (speaking to Garuda)
Dosha: Vata/Pitta
Concept: Certain kuṣṭha varieties arise from vāta-pitta combination; additional named forms are enumerated.
Vedantic Theme: Multiplicity of effects from combined causes (kārya-kāraṇa-bhāva) within prakṛti; encourages causal reasoning.
Application: When symptoms are mixed, consider dual-doṣa pathology; refine diet/behavior accordingly.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.164.6-7 (doṣa basis and single-doṣa types); Garuda Purana 1.164.9-10 (other dual-doṣa types and mahā-kuṣṭha list)
They preserve a traditional nosology: specific skin conditions are identified by name and linked to doṣic causation, especially vāta-pitta combinations.
It does not address the after-death path; it is a catalog of disease-types, showing the Purana’s inclusion of practical Ayurvedic knowledge.
Treat the verse as a conceptual map: different presentations of skin disease may imply different underlying imbalances, encouraging individualized (doṣa-aware) care.
