Dhanvantari
Concept: Adhiṣṭhāna (seat) of visarpa is external; curability varies by doṣa and is worsened by fear/exhaustion.
Vedantic Theme: Interplay of mind-body states (bhaya, śrama) with embodied processes; guṇa-like modulation of outcomes.
Application: Examine external tissues/skin as primary locus; reduce patient fear and exhaustion; tailor treatment to the dominant doṣa and anticipate harder management when systemic strain is present.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: karuna
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.163.3-4 (mechanism of spread and triggers)
By stating the disease’s seat as ‘external,’ the verse guides clinical focus toward visible, spreading manifestations and helps assess severity and management.
It does not address afterlife themes; it is a medical/prognostic statement about disease location and curability based on doṣa involvement.
Do not ignore rapidly spreading external inflammation; early intervention improves outcomes, and management should be tailored to the underlying doṣic pattern.
