Lord Vishnu (in discourse to Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Dosha: Pitta
Concept: Effects follow causes: specific doṣa combinations yield predictable symptom clusters; knowledge reduces confusion and guides right action.
Vedantic Theme: Causality within prakṛti; the witness-self remains distinct from bodily fluctuations—encouraging steadiness amid illness.
Application: Use kapha-pitta markers (stambha, nidrā/tandrā, śiroruja, arochaka) to differentiate from kapha-vāta patterns and tailor cooling/lightening measures under guidance.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.163 (doṣa-wise symptom lists; kapha-pitta section)
It provides a concise kapha–pitta clinical picture—fever with heaviness, sleepiness, stiffness, and appetite loss—useful for distinguishing doṣic patterns in traditional diagnosis.
This verse is not about afterlife doctrine; it belongs to the Garuda Purana’s instructional material on health and disease, where the dialogue format is used to transmit practical śāstric knowledge.
Recognize kapha–pitta presentation (fever + heaviness/drowsiness + reduced appetite) and prioritize appropriate diet, rest, and professional care; it also cautions against ignoring appetite loss (arocaka) during fever.
