Vedantic Theme: Deha as kṣetra (field) with guṇic disturbance; the Self is distinct from bodily afflictions.
Application: Recognize urinary pain as a vāta-driven obstruction; seek timely vaidya care and avoid vāta-aggravating habits (suppression of urges, dehydration, excessive exertion).
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
Type: anatomical locus
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.158 (Ayurveda/roga-nidāna section on mūtra-roga and vāta disorders)
This verse defines Vātāṣṭhīla as a vāta-driven disorder where deranged vāyu coils in the bladder and produces severe pain, serving as a diagnostic description.
It does not describe the after-death journey here; instead, it presents Garuda Purana’s instructional material on bodily disorders, framed as Vishnu’s teaching to Garuda.
Treat severe bladder pain or urinary obstruction as urgent; the verse highlights vāta-aggravation patterns, supporting timely medical evaluation and vāta-balancing care.
