Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda/Vinata-putra)

Dosha: Vata

Concept: Improper actions and impurity disturb vital functions; suffering arises as a direct fruit (phala) in the body.

Vedantic Theme: Karma operates through the guṇas and the body-mind instrument; disorder (vikāra) follows misuse of the instrument.

Application: Maintain cleanliness, avoid causative behaviors (vegadhāraṇa, harsh acts), treat early signs of anorectal burning; adopt diet/regimen that pacifies vāta and supports elimination.

Primary Rasa: bhayanaka

Secondary Rasa: bibhatsa

FAQs

This verse highlights apāna-vāyu as a crucial force governing downward functions; when aggravated by mala (impurity), it becomes a direct cause of intense burning and distress in the lower region.

In the Preta-kāṇḍa context, Garuda Purana links subtle physiological disturbances (vāyu imbalance) with suffering; such descriptions support the broader teaching that karmic and bodily conditions shape the preta’s experience after death.

Maintain purity and disciplined habits (śauca, moderation, and dharmic living) to reduce causes of agitation and suffering—an ethical takeaway aligned with Garuda Purana’s emphasis on conduct and cleanliness.
