Lord Vishnu (in dialogue with Garuda/Vinatā-putra)
Dosha: Kapha
Concept: Pathogenesis as directional movement and reversal (viparyaya) of doṣa/kapha with prāṇa/vāyu through specific limbs and deep tissues.
Vedantic Theme: Change and motion belong to prakṛti; the witnessing awareness remains distinct—useful for cultivating non-identification amid bodily flux.
Application: Track symptom migration from head to lower limbs and deep tissues; recognize ‘viparyaya’ patterns (reversal of expected order) to adjust treatment sequence and anticipate deeper involvement.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Type: body-pathway
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.147 (viparyaya/periodicity sequence across verses 57–61)
This verse uses “viparyaya” to classify a specific pattern in the departure of the life-wind (prāṇa), describing an inverted/contrary progression through bodily regions as death approaches.
It frames the transition in terms of prāṇa’s movement—first associated with the head and then proceeding through hips, shanks, and deeper tissues like bone and marrow—indicating stages of withdrawal from the gross body.
It encourages mindful living and preparation for death through dharma and inner discipline, recognizing that death is a process of gradual withdrawal rather than a sudden event.
