कन्यां च युवतीं दृष्ट्वा कस्मै देया सुता मया / यमायेत्यब्रवीद्दुः खात्साचाराद्व्रतसत्फलात्

kanyāṃ ca yuvatīṃ dṛṣṭvā kasmai deyā sutā mayā / yamāyetyabravīdduḥ khātsācārādvratasatphalāt

കന്ന്യയെ യുവതിയായി കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവൻ ദുഃഖാകുലനായി—“എന്റെ മകളെ ഞാൻ ആര്ക്കു നൽകും?” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു; ദുഃഖത്തിൽ “യമനു” എന്നു ഉച്ചരിച്ചു. സദാചാരവും ധർമ്മവ്രതപുണ്യഫലവും കൊണ്ടു ആ വചനഫലം നിർബന്ധമായി പ്രകടമായി.
