Lord Vishnu
Concept: Continuity of saṃskāra-related observances and time-bound restoration when vows are broken.
Vedantic Theme: Adhikāra-śuddhi (fitness through discipline) as a support for dharma and later spiritual pursuit.
Application: Maintain daily observances consistently; if a lapse occurs, restore within three nights; otherwise complete prescribed expiation within ten days.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Type: domestic-ritual space (griha)
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.107 (śauca/saṃskāra-niyama context)
This verse emphasizes continuity of prescribed discipline (vrata-like conduct) across key saṃskāras, treating them as a sustained period of ritual responsibility rather than isolated ceremonies.
It sets a graded remedy: if the observance is broken, restoration should occur within three nights; if delayed beyond that, a longer corrective period—ten days—is prescribed.
Treat spiritual commitments as continuous habits; if you lapse, return quickly and set a defined recovery period rather than abandoning the discipline entirely.
