Lord Vishnu (in instruction to Garuda/Vinatā-putra, ritual-vidhi context)
Concept: Mantra and krama (sequence) are efficacious: correct ordering is itself a carrier of meaning and power in yajna.
Vedantic Theme: Shabda (revealed sound) as a disciplined means within karma-kanda; ritual sound as purifier and concentrator of mind.
Application: Recite and offer oblations with the specified mantra segments in the prescribed order, maintaining pronunciation and sequence as integral to the rite.
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Type: homa-altar before sacred fire
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.101.8 (continuation of mantra sequence); Garuda Purana 1.101.6 (mantra-yukta caru offerings)
This verse emphasizes that oblations should be offered with specific invocatory mantras in a fixed sequence, showing that correct mantra-order (yathākramam) is integral to the efficacy and dharmic correctness of the rite.
It functions as a procedural instruction: the performer is told exactly which mantra-cues to use—addressing the Devas and Agni—and to offer āhutis in the prescribed order, reflecting the text’s broader focus on proper rites (vidhi).
If performing homa/śrāddha-related fire offerings, follow a qualified tradition (śākhā/ācārya) and maintain correct sequencing and pronunciation, treating the rite as disciplined dharma rather than improvisation.
