यदि वीरो महाराज तेनैव त्वां यजे इति । तथेति वरुणेनास्य पुत्रो जातस्तु रोहित: ॥ ९ ॥
yadi vīro mahārāja tenaiva tvāṁ yaje iti tatheti varuṇenāsya putro jātas tu rohitaḥ
ഓ മഹാരാജാ! ഹരിശ്ചന്ദ്രൻ വരുണനോട് അപേക്ഷിച്ചു—“എനിക്ക് ഒരു വീരപുത്രൻ ജനിച്ചാൽ, ആ പുത്രനാൽ തന്നെ നിങ്ങളുടെ തൃപ്തിക്കായി യജ്ഞം നടത്താം.” വരുണൻ “തഥാസ്തു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. വരുണന്റെ വരദാനത്താൽ ഹരിശ്ചന്ദ്രന് ‘രോഹിതൻ’ എന്ന പുത്രൻ ജനിച്ചു.
