मूढे भर द्वाजमिमं भर द्वाजं बृहस्पते । यातौ यदुक्त्वा पितरौ भरद्वाजस्ततस्त्वयम् ॥ ३८ ॥
mūḍhe bhara dvājam imaṁ bhara dvājaṁ bṛhaspate yātau yad uktvā pitarau bharadvājas tatas tv ayam
ബൃഹസ്പതി പറഞ്ഞു—“ഹേ മൂഢേ! ഒരാളുടെ വീര്യത്തിൽ നിന്ന് മറ്റൊരാളുടെ ഭാര്യയിൽ ജനിച്ചാലും ഈ ശിശുവിനെ—ഭരദ്വാജനെ—നീ പോഷിക്ക.” മമത പറഞ്ഞു—“ഹേ ബൃഹസ്പതേ, നീ തന്നേ ഭരദ്വാജനെ പോഷിക്ക!” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ് ഇരുവരും വിട്ടുപോയി; അതിനാൽ കുട്ടി ഭരദ്വാജൻ എന്ന പേരിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധനായി.
